MOVING DAY!

FINALLY! We are moving to Richmond today, and we are extremely excited to start this new phase of our lives together. I am so GRATEFUL to have such a wonderful MAN by my side, and my family that supports all of our decisions in life. In fact, we can't wait for them to visit next weekend. They are excited to bring Baby Gunnar to Richmond to shop at Short Pump Mall.

Jordan and Jarrad are waiting for us in Richmond! Woo-hoooo! They just finished setting up their apartment today.

I love and miss you MawMaw! R.I.P May 17, 1943-August 20, 2009

What a busy busy summer it has been?!

Home Sweet Home!
Well, the summer is nearing its end, and it's just the beginning of a new phase in our lives. Working with Greater Washington Sports Alliance was quite possibly one of the best experiences of my life. It has taught me to be professional, out-going, goal-oriented, and not to be afraid of asking questions. This opportunity has opened many doors, and hopefully one of them will lead to a career. I was able to meet many different athletes, business men and women, and best of all, a great group of co-workers. I will miss every single one of them.

On to bigger and better things! Chris and I have found a one bedroom apartment in Richmond, VA. We are 3 minutes from Short Pump. For all of you lucky family members who live further away, our apartment complex has a 2 bedroom fully furnished guest suite fo just $95 a night. For now, unless I get a full time job, Chris and I will be transferring to the Outback in Richmond at West Broad Street. The excitment of starting our lives together is starting to take over, and we have been all smiles since... I could not ask for a more supportive, loving, and caring partner to spend the rest of my life with. We're having lots of fun coming up with decorating ideas. We do know now that our bedroom will be brown and green. I just bought everything today (as you can see in the pictures above). We're still having trouble deciding what we would like to do in the living room. Right now I'm voting for animal prints. I've seen alot of classy looking decor out and about today. I need to run it by Chris though hehe.
Also, our best friends Jordan and Jarrad have decided to move into the same complex as us. They will be the building accross the way from us. It is going to be so nice to have them there in Richmond. We truly have loads of fun together. Yes, we're gonna be those couples out having fun. And yes, Jordan and I will be those cute lil moms together!

More updates to come!

New Beginnings...

So we finally did it! On May 9, 2009 Chris and I graduated from Radford University. On May 11, 2009, WE MOVED OUT OF RADFORD! I couldn't be sad about graduating because I was so anxious to get out of there. I remember when Chris and I would drive around Radford or Christiansburg, we would just keep saying, "We're almost out of here, just a few more days." When we were driving down I66 about 10 exits away from my new home at his Mom's house, I changed my radio stations haha.

Once we got settled in, we took a trip back to my hometown, Virginia Beach, for the weekend. Friday night, we went out to dinner at Chick's Raw Oyster Bar (Chris' Favorite), for Courtney's birthday. Saturday, we got everything ready for Courtney's baby shower. Rain drowned out the baby shower. People that RSVP'd didn't even show up. However, you can always count on family. Mommy took me shopping on Monday to get some clothes for work. I hate shopping for clothes right now because I'm not at my "happy" weight. I've been trying to get back down to a comfortable weight, but I'm so out of shape. It's going to take a lot of hard work.

This past week Chris and I have just really enjoyed the time off we have now because I start my internship next Wednesday and we've successfully transferred to Outback in Warrenton which starts next Monday. Orientation for my internship was held on Wednesday, and I walked out of there thinking, "How in the world did I land this internship." Of the 7 interns, I am the only one that has graduated, therefore that puts me in great position to land a job with them if something is open. We have an event on May 30th with the Washington Mystics and June 1st, our "Fore Our Youth" Golf Tournament. I'm excited to start. I will definitely keep updating throughout the summer.
Here are some pics from Graduation...

6 days til it's over!

So 2 finals for me and 3 finals for Chris stand in the way of us and FREEDOM...well for now! I'm beginning to get anxious. It is so hard to study for your last 2 tests of your college career, and not to mention all I want to do is pack haha! Monday is my last day at work, and Tuesday for Chris. The majority of the house is packed with the exception of my room.

We're really excited about our Grad Party, dinner, and last time out with everyone! We've booked a U-Haul for Monday, May 11th. The plan is to pack up the house and leave Monday sometime, drive to NOVA, unpack and get situated, then head to VB for a few days.

....THEN REALITY BEGINS
..........my internship starts with orientaton May 18th.

42 days til Graduation!

42 days til Graduation and 34 days til the last day of classes! Can you tell that I'm getting a little anxious!? With college coming to an end, the work load is getting heavier and heavier. I have my 30 pg. PR Campaign due May 1st, and two other class projects due around the same time, as well as journals, tests, and the list goes on! So much for enjoying the nice weather when it FINALLY gets here.

Well, I've got some exciting news! I landed the internship that I interviewed for at the conference up in D.C. I found out Tuesday through an email from the internship coordinator at the company. It is a non-profit sports commission located in Washington D.C. by the name of Greater Washington Sports Alliance. I've listed some of the tasks that I will be given below:
· Writing for newsletters and other external communications
· Writing memos
· Assist with press releases and media advisories
· Administrative duties (mailings, emails, preparing for meetings)
· Answer Marathon hotlines
· Prepare documents for Events
· Facilities Management
· Research and Development for new events
· Event planning and execution
· Sponsorship profiles and outreach

I'm very excited about this opportunity, and hope that it will lead to a full time job after completion!

Chris is currently applying with the Prince William County Police Department for an intern position. Not as extensive as Fairfax County...thank goodness!

Harper is currently shedding because he has so much hair. A grooming appointment is in his future, most likely when we go up to NOVA for Chris' birthday in April. While in Northern VA over spring break, we visited some apartments that we are interested in. They are called Lakeside Apartments. They are running a rent special now ($300 of your rent each month with a 12 month lease). The one bedroom 735 sq. ft. that we liked is priced at $1030 after the special and the 1 bedroom plus a den 925 sq ft. is $1265 after the special. YES I know, outrageous for an apartment, but that is the consequences for wanting more job opportunities. These are extremely nice apartments though in a SAFE area and pet friendly. If Chris will be gone working a lot then I would rather know that I am in a safe area even if it means paying more to live there. We've been leaning towards the 1 bed plus den because it's not much more a month and we just feel that we'll be cramped in the other. Plus, I would like to have somewhere for family to stay when they come visit. We are living with Chris' mom for the summer until we get on our own feet. I NEED a full time job by November when my mom can no longer claim me on insurance :-(

Needless to say, we are VERY excited and I've already started packing up some of the house like winter clothes, and other things not necessarily needed at this time. Ok, well I'm going to lay down for a bit before work at 3pm today. I hope I make lots of money and Chris is food running tonight...lucky duck! He'll make well over $100

Talk to you all soon!

Travel Travel Travel!

In the morning, Chris and I will be traveling for Northern VA for all sorts of reasons. I am attending the Sport Industry Networking Conference (SINC) Friday and Saturday in Washington D.C./Arlington. Hopefully, I will land a great internship, since it is costing me $175 just to go to the conference. :( Some of the companies and organizations that will be there are the Washington Redskins, DC United, Washington Mystics (Women's Basketball), Comcast SportsNet, and some other great sport industry organizations. I'm really excited and very nervous all a the same time. We had the opportunity to submit our resumes ahead of time, and picked our top 8 choices of companies to interview.

Monday, Chris has his interview with the Fairfax County Police for his internship. He will then take polygraph exam on Tuesday at 7:30am...tooo early for me! Then it is off to the eye doctor and dentist.

We just might find some time for a little R&R....if we're lucky! So not so much of a relaxing Spring Break ahead of us, not to mention we have to come back Wednesday to work the rest of the week :(.

Harper will be staying at the puppy hotel for the week...I will miss him dearly, Chris not so much! Ok well it's a little after 2am and I need some major beauty sleep! Oh yeah...almost forgot, I cut my hair short again! Love love love it! Night night sleep tight everyone!

A few updates...

Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well. Chris and I are doing just fine. We have been EXTREMELY busy with school and work. Chris has been working non-stop. I rarely see him. We're either in class or at work. I guess it's a little taste of what our future will be like when we're both working....gone all day, at home at night, hopefully the weekends to ourselves.

So a few holidays have passed since I've last updated everyone! Chris and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary on February 7th. We actually got the opportunity to get OUT of Radford for a weekend! IT WAS A MIRACLE! We went to Charlottesville for the weekend and stayed with his grandma. Friday night, his Mom also came to visit. That was nice, it's always good to see her. We all went out to dinner at this cute pizza place, Vinny's. Matt, Chris' brother, came down for the night as well, and his aunt. It was like we hadn't seen each other in forever. We were all cracking jokes the entire night. We definitely got some looks from other people in the restaurant, but who cares, we were all just happy to be together. Saturday, Chris and I spent the day in the historic downtown Charlottesville. We walked down and visited all the shops and scenery. It was nice just being able to relax and do what we wanted for the day. We ate at this little deli called Bagby's. Probably the best club sandwich I had in awhile. For dinner, Aberdeen Barn! FABULOUS! Chris has gone many of times, and I have never had the chance. I had a glass of Pinot Nior and tasted scallops for the first time. Chris loves them! We're always in the mood to try new things. It's one thing we love about each other. We went back to his grandma's for dessert and coffee because somehow she always manages to make the best coffee, breakfast, dinner, you name it, she can do it! That weekend was absolutely relaxing! It was just what we needed!

P.S. I'm sitting watching Chris do it Wii Fit Yoga and Strength exercises...it's his new favorite hobby and quite entertaining I might add. We bought the Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit with our tax money and a Valentine's gift to each other! Very good investment.

Ok, so Valentine's Day followed a week after our anniversary. It wasn't extravagant like last year, but very thoughtful! We had a to work that day which SUCKED, but it was nice to be able to be together. I woke up to Chris making me my favorite breakfast, french toast, eggs, and bacon! And of course, a dozen roses. However, there were things hanging from them, I couldn't see them well because my eyes hadn't adjusted yet. At first I thought it was some other flowers with the roses. Little did I know, they were paper hearts hanging from the stems with 12 reasons why he loves me...they were soo good I have to share them with you!

  1. The first read, I love you, Happy Valentine's Day!
  2. I love you because your BEAUTIFUL
  3. I love you because you're so caring to me and others.
  4. I love you because you ALWAYS make me smile or laugh even at times when I don't want to...
  5. I love you because of the sweet gifts you've given me.
  6. I love you because of your incredible heart.
  7. I love you because of the amount of excitement you bring into my life everyday.
  8. I love you because of your extreme patience with me even when I push it to the limit...sometimes!
  9. I love the way you kiss me and touch me....a little PG-13 rated I know...
  10. I love you because of the amazing way you always seem to read my mind.
  11. I love you because of off the amazing new experiences that I've shared for the first time with you and only you.
  12. I love you because of the fact that you are without a doubt my true soul mate....(2015) :)....that's when he always says he's going to propose haha!

...isn't that so SWEEEET! I told him I didn't know he had it in him. I felt bad because I thought we decided to take it easy this year, so I got him a card. However, I did make this memory chest. In it are two heart boxes in which we plan to write a letter to each other. Then next year, open it up and read the letters to each other. Then write again...and repeat the process throughout!

Anywho, it's about time to go take my history test!!! I'm extremely nervous because it is a 100 level class and the test is all essay and no study guide...WHO DOES THAT! History teachers of course...this is why I have such a hard time passing college history! WISH ME LUCK!

WoW It's been awhile...

It's been quite a long time since I've updated everyone on life here in Good Ole' Radford. Well I just haven't had much time to sit down and write. Chris and I have been working since the day we came back from break. It's paid off though. We're both finally making enough money to relax and not worry about making the money to pay bills each month. We are both very happy with Outback. The money, the management, and the people are all so much better!

Now as for school, we are absolutely ready to be out of here! Senioritis has kicked in without a doubt. We are still going to class and completing our work, we just don't want to be here anymore. Both of us have quite a bit of work ahead of us in our classes, but we can do it! My search for internships has become a little easier. My networking skills are growing. I think mostly, I miss having Jordan around to hang out with and do our girl things.

Our 1 year anniversary is coming up on February 7, 2009. I'm excited for it. This relationship has been by far the best thing that has ever happened to me. Chris has inspired me to open up to new things and look at life totally differently. He's pushed me to do better in school, which I know my parents have always wanted. He's that person I can't get enough of, and the one person I know will listen to anything and everything that can come out of my mouth, and believe me he puts up with a lot. I've never been so proud to point him out and say "That's him." So for our anniversary, we are going to Charlottesville to the Aberdeen Barn for dinner. He's been many times before, and I've been patiently waiting for my chance. We're planning to do something else, but still trying to figure that out. It's hard to believe that it has been an entire year already. I guess you could say time flies when you're in love...

Will I get a niece or a nephew???

Tomorrow is the day that...hopefully...my sister finds out if she is having a boy or a girl. I just have to say that if they have a boy, I think this is an adorable crib bedding set because they are going to decorate in monkeys if its a boy!! I'm so excited! I'll update as soon as I find out!!!
